GEMSEC AbaloneTM Summer Science Camp

Apr 3, 2020
Organized solely by the DMREF project, this is the second year the camp was converted into artificial intelligence (AI)/ machine learning (ML) implementations in Materials Science and Engineering (MS&E). The camp focuses on molecular biomimetics, computational modeling, and introductory AI and deep learning. High school students conduct work on science projects, attend lectures, and present their findings. The camp is a free three-day enrichment program for high school students that focuses on Molecular Biomimetics, Computational Modeling, and AI. This camp allows participants to work on a number of interesting projects under the guidance of team’s PhD students. The goal is to provide education and exposure to the emerging field of Molecular Biomimetics, involving Molecular Biology, MS&E, AI, ML, and Data Science. There are demonstrations and hands-on projects in computational and experimental techniques involving a variety of learning experiences culminating in a barbecue lunch and award ceremony on the last day of camp.
